On January 1, 1970, Hansruedi Christen became self-employed and founded his own construction company. Initially, the construction activities of the sole proprietorship Hansruedi Christen covered the areas of renovations and agricultural buildings. Over the years, the Christen company expanded into residential construction, primarily single-family homes. Later, multi-family houses as well as buildings in the public sector were added. In the summer of 2004, the family business was transformed into a joint stock company, Christen Bau AG. From then on, Daniel Christen was in charge of the management. Through the purchase of land in Hüswil, a branch was established in 2014 at Bernstrasse 13b in Hüswil/Zell.
