Weber AG Gleis- und Tiefbau (Muttenz)

The company WEBER AG was founded on May 1, 1946 by Jakob Weber. The then sole proprietorship Jakob Weber, Muttenz + Basel, developed strongly in the following years and soon had a good name. Among the first works were clearing and canalization works, as well as the construction of the old road from Muttenz to Schönmatt. In the early years, the company also operated a quarry.

As a result of the large supply and corresponding demand, the company concentrated on pure track construction. This was followed by orders such as the construction of the Au and Birsfelden ports, the Zeughausmatte free loading facility, the relocation of streetcar line 14 from St. Jakobstrasse to its own track in the Zeughausberg tunnel and the construction of the Basel marshalling yard, then still called RB Muttenz II, and many others.

On 5.12.1973 the company was transformed into a joint-stock company. At that time the company took over Gerberich & Schaub in Olten. Since that time the company has had a constant staff of about 100 employees.

Since 1991 Bernhard Weber - Hueber, owner and president of the board of directors, has been managing the family business in the second generation. He is succeeded by his son Bernhard Weber - Durante.
The economic situation of the company is currently good to very good, because the company is fully occupied with track construction work.
